Not that we should love our mothers more today, but this is simply another reminder of how much we appreciate their warmth and care <3
Happy Mother's Day! =)

Beautiful Controversy

Sunsets have always been the prettiest moment of the day to me. Some say it's romantic, others call it relaxing. Whatever the feeling, it's always a good feeling.
Well now (for a few years already), people can find one of the prettiest sunsets in the world right in the Big Apple or in New Jersey. Say thank you to humans, polluters, big chains, the !@#$%?& government.

Kony?

I've done a bit of research regarding this fellow. For those who don't know him, he is accused for abduction and turning boys into soldiers, and girls into sex slaves. People have been trying to track him down for about 20 years, and the government finally successfully expelled him from Uganda.

Although this whole Kony story has raised awareness around the world, it has also become controversial. Invisible Children, and non-profit organization has admitted that only 37% of the fund its raised goes to Central Africa's helping programs. The rest is to pay salaries, trips, media and other campaigning methods. The video that is being spread worldwide is also blamed for expressing lies. Which ones ones? I don't know.

Another controversy is that the Ugandans have already been covering from the drama and are a prospering community now. People seem to be pitying the people of Uganda and are making Africa look like a poor and outrageous continent and this is irritating them.

According to the government of Uganda, less than 300 children are in the hands of Joseph Kony (30000 originally) and the numbers are continuing to diminish. I do not know where this number comes from, since nobody knows where Kony is right now, but the statistics come directly from the Uganda government's website.

My opinion is that even if the case is raising much controversial, being aware is a good thing. And whether the numbers are high or low, it is definitly wrong to abduct children and make them live horrific days. If this situation WERE to happen in Canada, it wouldn't be accepted. So why should it be left uncared in Africa, or wherever that Kony is?
